Adding to LB’s list of places to get great food:
La Tolteca in Santa Barbara, CA, has the most incredible chile verde burritos on the planet. I’m always looking for chile verde that comes close, but I haven’t found it yet.
Panera Bread is a perennial favorite treat for our whole family. We don’t live near a Panera, so it’s always special.
There’s a little restaurant in Cascade on Highway 24 on the way up to Woodland Park, CO called Wines of Colorado. I haven’t had their wines, but their Smoked Pork Tenderloin sandwich is just to die for.
The brunch at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs is pricey but amazing.
Mac Kenzie’s Chop House, also in Colorado Springs, has the best filet mignon with gorgonzola in the world.
There’s a little restaurant called The Bistro in Boone, NC that offers great food. They have a dish called the Black and Bleu that consists of chicken, gulf shrimp, and andouille sausage lightly seasoned with blackening spice sautéed with red onions and bell peppers with a gorgonzola cream sauce over fettuccine. Amazing eating.
In Phoenix, the best pizza we’ve ever eaten can be had at Rosati’s pizza.
I’ll close with another favorite in Oakhurst, CA: The Three Sisters Cafe. They have a brunch dish that I dream about at night called Eggs Joaquin Murrietta. It’s the Mexican version of eggs Benedict.
