Hors d’oevres…who needs anything else?

Dinner tonight evolved into ALL hors d’oevres. Ah….delicious. I made homemade pesto today so we had that on homemade bread as well as thick, succulent slices of vine-ripened tomatoes. The colors were beautiful! Dave picked up some shrimp that we boiled up and dipped into clarified garlic butter. We had farmer’s market green beans (actually, they started out PURPLE and turned green as we cooked them. We’ve never seen beans like THAT before!) We made some more crab puffs and reheated some corn on the cob. Deeeeelish! Everyone around here loves it when we never make it past the appetizers!

  1. In our house, we call those beans Magic Beans. By the way, this kind of dinner makes a wonderful party meal. I try to have an Antipasto Dinner with friends for holidays like New Year’s Eve. I serve whatever I have on hand, which often includes: various salamis, pepperoni’s, and or prosciutto; chunks of fancy cheeses; a lineup of veggies with various choices of dip; olives; good bread; and a traditional Italian dish that is often served at informal deals like this: Pasta e Ceci. I’ll post a recipe for that later.
