I don’t know why I like minty things at Christmas time so much, but they always taste just right. For this reason, I’m always on the lookout for peppermint treats to make.
This homemade Peppermint bark recipe couldn’t be much easier. Even though I’m not all that fond of white chocolate, in this form, it tastes good.
PEPPERMINT BARK
Melt a bag of white chocolate chips in a heavy saucepan over a low burner. Pour melted chocolate onto a piece of foil on a cookie sheet. Crush candy canes or those little round red and white peppermint candies and sprinkle in the melted white chocolate. Chill in the fridge.
When the peppermint bark hardens, break into pieces. And that’s all there is to it! This makes a great gift from your kitchen.
Martha Stewart suggests putting peppermint extract into the white chocolate chips as they melt, but this is plenty minty without that.
MY recommendation, because I really DO prefer dark chocolate to white chocolate is to melt a bag of semi-sweet chips. If you make both white and dark chocolate peppermint bark, the bowl looks prettier and everyone gets what they want!
