Russian Tea Mix

One of the fun gifts we got this year was a decorative jar full of Russian Tea Mix from Wendy, one of Dave’s coworkers. My boys had never had this sweet treat before and they LOVE it! It’ll be gone in a week, so I realized I needed to hunt up my own recipe for Russian Tea Mix.

Russian Tea Mix

  • 4 c. Tang
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. instant tea (you can use plain tea, lemon-flavored, or pre-sweetened, depending on how you want this to taste)
  • 2 t. cinnamon
  • 2 t. ground cloves

Stir all these together to make about six cups of mix. Store in a tightly covered container.

To use: stir 2 t. mix into a cup of boiling water. Stir well and sip.

Serve over ice during hot weather for a cool treat.

Hey – this sounds lovely, but what is Tang?

    Thanks!

  • Tang is an orange-flavored drink mix. It was originally marketed in 1959, but it became famous in 1965 when NASA started using it on space flights for the astronauts. (*I* remember that, but Laura does not!)
You can find it in the same section of the grocery store that you find Koolaid powdered drink mix.
