Irish coffee has traditionally been served on St. Patrick’s Day at Dave’s house for as long as he can remember. We have great memories of enjoying Irish coffee made by Dave’s dad Jim over the years. We were given a set of Irish Coffee mugs as a wedding present 22 years ago by our good friend Jeanne. And of course because WE’RE nice, we’ve used them often.
Here is the Irish Coffee recipe we use:
Serve in a stemmed glass or footed glass mug.
Put 1 heaping t. sugar in the glass.
Add 1 to 1.5 oz Irish Whiskey.
Add 8 oz. strong coffee (or to 2/3 full) and stir.
Gently spoon whipped cream (real whipped cream, not canned!) on top.
Do not stir after cream is added. Drinking the coffee through the cream is part of the experience and flavor.
Find a seat by the fire and enjoy!
