Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

When is the perfect time to eat hot-out-the-oven homemade peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips? Today, the answer is, In the middle of a blizzarding snow storm that keeps us all inside! Ask me again next summer and the answer will be different because EVERY day is a good day for this delicious cookie recipe!

Today my son came in from shoveling snow and trying to coax our car up our steep driveway (no, it didn’t make it!) and asked me to make cookies. Any cookies. He needed cookies! Since it’s been a long time since I’ve made peanut butter cookies, I thought I needed to indulge.

Peanut Butter Cookies with Chocolate Chips

Cream together:

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 ½ c. peanut butter
  • ½ c. milk
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 2 ½ c. brown sugar

Beat in:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ t. baking powder
  • 1 t. salt

Stir in:

  • 3 ½ c. all purpose flour
  • 1 package chocolate chips

Drop by the tablespoon onto parchment on a cookie sheet. Use a fork to press in the standard peanut butter cookie pattern on the top of each cookie. Or don’t. Bake for 7-8 minutes at 375°.

Do NOT overbake. If you bake these cookies on parchment, you can slide the still very soft cookies off the baking sheet without tearing them to pieces. After they cool down, you will be SO glad you didn’t overbake them. Trust me on this.

  1. Hey Barb I Just made these cookies, had some extra PB around the kitchen .. they are fabulous! I am putting This recipe with your Barb’s Best Brownies recipe as my favorites. I had never mixed my baking powder with my eggs to the wet ingredients. I had always thought they were to go in with the flour.. I like this change seems to make the cookie lighter…
    Thanks so much for sharing!
