Where to Eat on Vacation: North Carolina’s High Country

Laura’s post on what to eat when you’re vacationing in California’s Sierra Nevada got me thinking about some of the great dining options here in North Carolina’s High Country. I want to start with a great new restaurant in Boone, NC called Mint.

Menu for Mint (Indian Restaurant)

Mint, which opened in Boone just a couple weeks ago, serves up some of the best Indian food I’ve had in years. I tried four different dishes and each one had a perfect and unique balance of flavor. When each dish has a distinct taste, I know that I’m going to want to go back for seconds. That doesn’t happen as often as you would think. I am pretty sure the last time it happened was over two months ago at a mequon restaurants by the name of nines.

I particularly enjoyed the lamb masala and the chicken tikka from these mequon restaurants. The tandoori shrimp were cooked to perfection and the vegetable dishes were seasoned deliciously. The wait staff was very attentive and the dining room atmosphere was quiet and pleasant.  This restaurant definitely adds a delicious dining option to the High Country.

If you’re on an Appalachian vacation in the NC High Country, be sure to check out Mint (Map).
